Incident detail page

The full picture of what went wrong, what's happening now, and what your team has done about it.

Overview

Every incident in DomainDash has its own detail page. This is where you go to understand exactly what's happening: a live status bar, a checklist of what DomainDash checked, and a timeline that captures every event from the moment the problem was first detected through to resolution.

Pro and Business plans

The incident detail page is available on Pro and Business plans. If you're on a Free or Starter plan, you'll see the incident summary (type, severity, and when it opened) but the full timeline, check status, and team notes require an upgrade.

You can reach the incident detail page in three ways:

  • From the incidents list. Click any row in your incident history to open the full detail view.
  • From a site's alert banner. When a site has an active incident, the banner on its detail page links straight here.
  • From a notification. Urgent alert and resolved emails include a direct link to the incident.

Status bar

At the top of the page, a status bar gives you the key facts at a glance:

  • Status pill showing the current state: open, recovering, or resolved
  • Started showing when the incident was confirmed, as a relative time (for example, "12 minutes ago")
  • Duration showing how long the incident has been open, or the total duration if it's been resolved
  • Affected regions showing how many of your monitoring regions are seeing the problem (for example, "2 of 4 regions"), visible on uptime incidents
  • Severity badge showing the incident's severity level (for example, "P0 - Critical")

The status bar updates in real time. As checks come in and the incident progresses, the status, duration, and region count all reflect the latest data without you needing to refresh.

What we checked

Below the status bar, a checklist card shows the current health of each monitoring type for the affected site:

Each item shows a status: healthy, warning, or failing. A summary at the top tells you how many checks are currently failing (for example, "1 of 4 failing"). Each item has a Details link that takes you to the relevant section of the site detail page for a deeper look.

The checklist reflects the site's current state, not a snapshot from when the incident opened. As the situation changes, the checklist updates to match.

Timeline

The main body of the page is a chronological timeline showing everything that's happened during the incident, oldest first. There are two kinds of entries:

System-generated entries

DomainDash automatically adds entries as the incident progresses:

  • Pre-incident summary — a snapshot of what was happening just before the incident was confirmed, including recent failure counts and the first region to detect the problem
  • Opened and resolved — markers for when the incident was confirmed and when it was resolved
  • Region changes — when an individual monitoring region starts seeing the problem or recovers
  • Failure counts — periodic summaries of how many checks have failed across your monitoring regions

These entries appear automatically and give you a complete technical record without anyone needing to write anything down.

Team updates

Your team members can post their own entries to the timeline:

  • Notes on active incidents, for coordinating your response ("Restarting the web server", "Contacted hosting provider")
  • Postmortem notes on resolved incidents, for recording what happened and why ("Root cause was an expired database certificate")

Each entry shows who created it and when.

Posting updates

A composer is fixed to the bottom of the page. Type a message and post it to add an entry to the timeline. On active incidents, your update is posted as a note. On resolved incidents, it becomes a postmortem note.

You can edit or delete your own updates after posting. The composer is available to any team member who can view the incident.

Collaborate during an incident

Since the page updates in real time, your team can use notes to coordinate a response without switching to a separate chat tool. Everyone watching the incident sees new updates appear instantly.

Live updates

Everything on the incident detail page updates in real time without refreshing. The whole team can watch an incident unfold together, or check back later and see the complete picture.
